Hyderabad: An executive producer working in the Telugu film industry committed suicide in her flat in Kavuri Hills, Madhapur. Police suspect that she was upset over not getting work and committed suicide. It is suspected that she died on Thursday, but the incident came to light on Saturday when neighbours felt a foul smell coming from her house. Swapna Verma (33), a native of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, was working in the film industry for the last three years. She moved to the current flat about a year ago, where she lived alone, police said.
However, at the beginning of her career, Swapna Verma got work in a few projects, but later her opportunities reportedly started decreasing, which led her to depression. Swapna had no work for the last six months and was upset about this, police sources said. It is suspected that she committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan in the bedroom. On Saturday, her neighbours felt a foul smell coming from her flat and immediately informed the police. The door was forced open and her decomposed body was found inside the house. Madhapur police are investigating the case. The body has been sent to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
