Hyderabad: A dance drama performance ‘Manyam Veerudu – Alluri Sitaramaraju’ based on one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, Alluri Sitaramaraju, choreographed by Dr. Anand Shankar Jayant, was performed by the dancers of Shankarananda Kalakshetra. The performance, a tribute to the man who challenged the British, was presented by the Ministry of Culture and Shankarananda Kalakshetra under the ministry’s scheme ‘Centenary and Anniversary Celebrations’.
A large team of 21 dancers from Shankarananda Kalakshetra along with guest artist Mithun Shyam, Surendra Nath and young dancers from Hyderabad and Bengaluru brought alive the patriotism of Sitaramaraju in a spectacular dance performance. Filled with superb choreography, martial arts and exciting fight scenes as well as captivating charm and emotions, the 45-minute performance had a standing ovation from the audience at the end, a press release said. The choreography was unique and based on visual presentation and was choreographed by Shwetha Prasad and I.V. The musical sound-scape was by Renuka Prasad, based on a Telugu poem by Venkat Gadepalli, English narration by Jayant Dwarkanath, lighting by Surya Rao and digital design by Gunjan Ashtaputre.
