Hyderabad: The burnt body found in Moinabad near Hyderabad four days ago has been identified as that of a woman missing from Mallepally area of the city, police said on Friday.
Police on Friday identified the deceased as 22-year-old Tahseen Begum, who had left her home on January 8. They suspect that the woman died by suicide as she had reportedly made suicide attempts earlier too. His brother had lodged a missing complaint at Habibnagar police station on January 10.
However, no case was registered by the police.
Taking this seriously, Hyderabad Police Commissioner K. Srinivas Reddy visited the police station and pulled up the circle inspector and other officials. He said that departmental action will be taken against him. The woman, who had completed her studies and was looking for a job, had left her house on January 8 following an argument with family members. The family did not immediately lodge a missing complaint as she had left the house that way. There were some opportunities in the past but they came back later. On January 8, a burnt body was found in Moinabad in Rangareddy district.
The body was found on a road leading to a field in the village. Farmers going towards their fields saw the burnt remains and informed the police. The police initially considered it a case of murder. It is suspected that someone murdered the body somewhere else before taking it to a field and setting it on fire.
Moinabad police had circulated information to Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionates to inquire about any missing woman case.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased and locals gathered outside Habibnagar police station and protested. He questioned the delay in taking action on the complaint of the woman’s family.
