Hyderabad: Bike taxi driver arrested for demanding Rs 30,000 to deliver parcel

Hyderabad: Masab Tank police arrested a bike taxi driver for threatening a customer and demanding money. Rs 30,000 for returning the laptop.

According to the police, bike taxi driver Shrimant took a laptop from Khairatabad resident Ashwin Kumar to give it to a person in Gachibowli on Tuesday. At around 9.30 in the morning, he picked up the laptop and left Ashwin’s house.

An hour later, Srimanta called Ashwin on phone and demanded that he pay him Rs 30,000 for the safe delivery of the laptop otherwise he threatened to delete the data from the gadget if his demand was not considered. After Ashwin’s efforts to convince the bike taxi driver failed, he contacted the Masab Tank police.

“A case was registered and a special team traced Shrimath and nabbed him. A laptop was recovered from him. He told us that he wanted to make quick money and had planned to extort money from Ashwin,” said Masab Tank Sub Inspector, Shrikant Gaur.
