Hubli: Nine days after his arrest, Kar Sevak Shrikant Pujari was released from jail in Karnataka’s Hubli city on Saturday, where a large number of Hindu activists gathered outside the jail to celebrate his release. Hindu activists decorated the pujari and gave him pictures of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita besides raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Pujari said his arrest did not affect him and he would go to Ayodhya on January 19 to take part in the celebrations for the inauguration of the Ram temple. The First Additional District Sessions Court in Hubli had granted conditional bail to the priest in the 31-year-old case during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. The Karnataka BJP unit launched a series of protests and campaigns across the state condemning Pujari’s arrest and demanding his immediate release from jail. Pujari’s arrest had sparked a war of words between the Congress government and the opposition BJP in Karnataka.
