HRTC revenue increased by 12% in October

Himachal Pradesh: The Himachal Path Transport Corporation (HRTC) has recorded a 12 per cent rise in revenue in October this year compared to the same period last year. It earned Rs 76.53 crore last month as against Rs 68.49 crore in October 2023. Apart from the measures that HRTC is taking to streamline its operations and reduce losses, a part of the rise in revenue is due to the special buses that the corporation ran from New Delhi and Chandigarh to various parts of the state on October 29 and 30 before Diwali to help people reach home for the festival.
The corporation is also providing reverse services on these routes after Diwali. Thanks to these special buses, HRTC earned Rs 2.82 crore on October 30, the highest this month. These services were also available on Diwali, earning HRTC Rs 2.72 crore. In this financial year till October, HRTC has earned Rs 519 crore from passengers. The revenue stood at Rs 456 crore in the first seven months in 2023-24, starting from April, and Rs 458 crore in the first seven months of 2022-23. So far this financial year, HRTC has surpassed its pre-Covid revenue, which was Rs 503 crore for the first seven months in 2019-20.
