Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg on Monday reviewed the preparations for the National Voters’ Day program to be organized on January 25 and gave necessary directions to the officials. According to a press release, “Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will be the chief guest of the National Voters’ Day programme.” He informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed with the Education Department during the program.
Apart from this, there will also be poster-making, singing and videography competitions as well as the launch of Poll Day Monitoring System (PDMS) 2.0. He said that during this time the oath to vote will also be administered to the people present. After this the message of the Chief Election Commissioner will be broadcast. He said a signature wall and selfie point would be set up in front of the Gaiety Theater to promote voting during this period.
During the programme, cultural presentations based on Electoral Literacy Club will be presented by the trainees of ITI Shimla. Besides this, there will be a lecture by state icon RJ Shalini and a vocal performance by state icon Muskaan Sharma. After this, a Mahasuvi release said, a dance performance by the cultural troupe and a video of the police band Harmony of the Pines will be shown.
During the programme, the best performing Electoral Registration Officers will be honored and Electoral Photo Identity Cards will be distributed to new voters.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi assured the Chief Electoral Officer that compliance with the instructions given by him will be ensured.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Joint CP Harsh Dayama, MC Additional Commissioner Aditya Dachalwal, MC Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahendru, ADC Khanna Saktar Singh Bal and many others were also present on the occasion.
