Patna: A police officer’s maid used to travel in a Thar. She used to go to work in that vehicle. She also made reels with money. (Househelp’s Thar, cash reels) These have exposed the luxurious lifestyle of a police officer. With this, the corruption allegations against him have taken another turn. It has been revealed that Bihar DSP Gautam Kumar has assets beyond his income. With this, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) officials conducted searches in Kishanganj, where he is working as an SDPO, as well as in Patna and Purnia. Rs. 80 crore worth of assets beyond his income were identified and seized.
Meanwhile, officials have found that Gautam Kumar has purchased 16 plots in Purnia. They have found that the properties were registered in the names of seven girlfriends, four wives, three mothers-in-law and one son. The investigating officers also found a tea estate, a bungalow and a two-storey building in Siliguri. In this context, the Bihar government took action on April 7. DSP Gautam Kumar was suspended.
On the other hand, another twist has come to light in the Gautam Kumar corruption case. The EOU officials have recently discovered that the housemaid Paro had purchased many properties through him. They learned that she had a Thar vehicle and that she used to reach Gautam Kumar’s house in that vehicle to do household chores. Also, social media reels made by Paro showing off bundles of notes have gone viral. In this context, the officials suspect that Gautam is also having an extramarital affair with Paro. However, since the start of the special investigation, the whereabouts of Paro and her family members are unknown.
Meanwhile, the EOU investigation has revealed that Gautam Kumar is amassing assets beyond his means to support the political aspirations of his girlfriend, who also has a child. The investigating agency said that he is preparing to field her as a candidate from Kishanganj.
The investigating officers have also learned that Gautam Kumar has aspirations of entering politics after his retirement in 2030. In this context, they are further investigating how he accumulated assets beyond his income and how he is transferring them.
