Raigarh: Kotwali police has got success in the theft case that happened in Ansh Hotel a few days ago. On 14th July, an unknown youth had stolen the envelopes given to the bride and groom and the ladies purse filled with gifts near the wedding ceremony stage in Ansh Hotel Raigarh and escaped. Regarding the incident, Akhilesh Mishra, resident of Boiradadar Vinoba Nagar, filed a theft report in Kotwali police station on 15th July. Crime number 430/2024 was registered against the unknown accused in Kotwali police station and investigation was taken up.
Taking the theft incident seriously, on the directions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, City Superintendent of Police Akash Shukla, Police Station Incharge Kotwali Inspector Sukhnandan Patel, Cyber Cell and Kotwali Police immediately went to the spot and verified the incident and checked the CCTV footage in which the picture of the suspect was found, in relation to which the guests who came to the wedding and the hotel staff were questioned, in which it was found that the suspect was a waiter working in Ajay Catering – Sheikh Akbar alias Budhan.
Immediately the police deployed staff to arrest the accused who had fled to Kolkata by train. After getting permission from the Superintendent of Police, the Kotwali Police team raided Kolkata, the accused had left for Raigarh after meeting his acquaintance, the police team followed the accused and came to Raigarh and today the accused was taken into custody near Dhimrapur Raigarh and brought to the police station. The accused has admitted to committing theft on the date of the incident on his memorandum. On the memorandum of the accused, a gold ring worth about ₹15,000 and cash worth ₹9200, totalling ₹24,200, have been recovered. After collecting solid evidence against the accused, the police today arrested the accused Sheikh Akbar alias Budhan, father late Sheikh Kadir, age 32 years, resident of Ward No. 39, Tiljala Road, Kolkata, for the crime of theft and sent him on judicial remand.
