Hoshiarpur: 39th National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight launched

Hoshiarpur: As part of the 39th National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight, Punjab Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa on Monday launched an eye donation awareness drive at the Netra Donation Association office at Civil Hospital. Emphasizing the importance of eye donation, he said that the Netra Donation Association has been rendering selfless service for the last 25 years. The association has done a significant job of making people aware of eye donation by organizing various seminars and awareness programs across the state. The Cabinet Minister said that eye donation is a great service, which can fill one’s world with light.

He said, “To make the country free from corneal blindness, we all should be aware of eye donation and inspire others. A small initiative can bring a big change in one’s life. So everyone should participate in this noble cause and inspire more and more people to donate eyes.” Professor Bahadur Singh Sunet, patron of the Eye Donation Association, said that Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda filled the pledge form for eye donation, while Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa has already filled the pledge form for eye donation. Professor Sunet said that the main objective of the association is to make the country free from corneal blindness.
