Raipur: After 17 years, a meeting was organized by Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Transport Departments in the initiative of the departments of both the states for expansion of passenger facilities and smooth traffic on 11th September at the Ministry of Madhya Pradesh, Vallabh Bhawan, Bhopal. On behalf of Madhya Pradesh State, this meeting was attended by S. N. Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Government, Transport Department and on behalf of Chhattisgarh State, S. Prakash, Secretary, Transport Department cum Transport Commissioner, Chhattisgarh.

To enhance the inter-state mutual traffic agreement made between Chhattisgarh-Madhya Pradesh in the year 2007 on various issues of the Transport Department between the two states, an agreement was reached to add 34 new routes by Chhattisgarh State and 19 new routes by Madhya Pradesh State. Apart from this, consensus was reached on many important points including increase in frequency due to no vacancy in 36 routes out of 81 routes of mutual agreement, inclusion of agreed routes in mutual agreement, modernization of traffic, not levying any kind of tax on free zone, and prompt resolution of related issues. Action on all the decisions taken in the meeting will be taken in the coming days as per the legal process.
