Himachal: Women’s self-help groups will sell products online, said the Additional Deputy Commissioner.

Himachal Pradesh: In Hamirpur on Thursday, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Garg said that women’s self-help groups (SHGs) will be able to sell their products through online marketplaces, which will improve their income and economic condition. He was addressing a program organized by the district administration and the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) to empower women’s self-help groups economically. Garg said that special arrangements are being made in Him Era shops and rural markets for the sale of products made by women’s self-help groups. He said that in addition to showcasing these products on various occasions, necessary arrangements have also been made for these groups in Him Era shops in Dang Kwali and Deotsidh in Hamirpur district.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) officials to upload the products of all self-help groups on online platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, and Flipkart within a week. He set a target of getting the products lab-tested and obtaining food safety licenses on a priority basis. He said that the machinery available in the integrated farming cluster should be utilized. Garg said that the Umang and Shiva self-help groups of Nadaun block and the Patial Bag House self-help group of Bhoranj block have successfully launched their products on Amazon. In addition, a food van has been launched in Bijhri block. He directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to send proposals related to food vans to the Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (HPSRLM), Shimla, as soon as possible. He said that through these food vans, women’s self-help groups will be able to earn income by selling their traditional dishes.
