Himachal: Vigilance Bureau arrested officer taking bribe of Rs 40,000

Himachal Pradesh: State Vigilance Bureau today arrested Tilak Raj, a resident of Nagrota Bagwan, Kangra red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40,000 for giving favourable inspection report regarding lease hold land of Industries Department. He is currently working as Economic Investigator in Single Window Clearance Agency (SWCA) of Industries Department at Sansarpur Terrace (Kangra). Complainant, Prabhakaran, resident Barwada, Kangra in complaint to Vigilance Bureau alleged that Tilak Raj demanded Rs 40,000 from him for favourable inspection report.
The officers laid a trap and caught Tilak Raj red handed while accepting bribe. As per standard procedure, VB produced two witnesses (gazetted officers) who also testified that Raj took bribe. On Thursday, a criminal case has been registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended 2018) at the police station of Kangra, Dharamshala by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. Vigilance Bureau officials said that the alleged accused officer will be produced in a judicial court tomorrow. Apart from this, the investigation is going on.
