Himachal: Tricolor will be shifted to the ridge

Himachal Pradesh: As per the state government’s directions, the national flag currently hoisted at the historic Ridge in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla will soon be shifted to a more suitable location. The decision has been taken in view of the recent widening and restructuring work carried out at The Ridge. Along with the national flag, the rain shelter located at the Ridge will also be shifted to the new location. Shimla (Urban) MLA Harish Janartha confirmed that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had directed the shifting of the flag on January 26.

Efforts are underway to identify a suitable new location for the flag, with the Municipal Corporation and the Public Works Department (PWD) working together. “The PWD will act as the nodal department, while the Shimla Municipal Corporation will act as the monitoring body,” Janartha said. The MLA made the announcement during his visit to The Ridge, where he inspected the site along with other dignitaries. The 100-foot-tall tricolour was first hoisted on the Ridge in 2015 by then CM Virbhadra Singh at a cost of around Rs 14 lakh.
