Himachal: The speaker highlighted efforts towards quality education
Himachal Pradesh: Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Tuesday said Himachal Pradesh is making significant progress in improving the quality of education and infrastructure while ensuring equal opportunities for underprivileged students. He was speaking as the chief guest at the annual prize distribution function of Government Senior Secondary School, Baghdhar. Addressing students, parents and residents, Pathania emphasised the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational facilities across the region to promote holistic development. The vibrant cultural performances by students at the function enthralled the audience. Speaker Pathania rewarded students who excelled in academics, sports and extracurricular activities, acknowledging their hard work and achievements.
He also announced financial assistance for development of school infrastructure, including construction of playgrounds and monetary rewards for participating schools and those who excelled. The Speaker said the state government has recruited about 3,500 new teachers and promoted 3,000 others during the last two years. He also mentioned the plans of the new Guest Teacher Recruitment Policy to address the shortage of teachers in remote areas, create employment opportunities and strengthen educational systems. Encouraging the students to achieve their goals with perseverance, the Speaker advised them to stay away from substance abuse and inspire others to do the same.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a drug-free society with the active participation of communities. School Principal Anupam Sharma presented the annual report of the institution, detailing its journey from a primary school established in 1955 to the present senior secondary level. Sharma highlighted the excellent academic and extracurricular achievements of the school, underlining its consistent performance. Eminent guests including local leaders, government officials and community members attended the event and contributed to its success. The Speaker congratulated the school administration, students and parents for organizing the function and expressed his best wishes for the continued progress of the school.
