Himachal: Sirmaur Police arrested two people and seized heroin

Himachal Pradesh: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sirmaur district police seized 10.6 grams of heroin (chitta) near Hotel Peach Valley in Rajgarh. Two persons were arrested on the spot – Ajay Kumar (35), a resident of Karganu Sanora village and Gulshan (29), of Kotli village – both in Rajgarh tehsil of Sirmaur. The accused have been charged under sections 21, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, police said. Investigation is underway. The action was part of a targeted drive by the SIU to combat drug trafficking in the region. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car with Chandigarh registration number near Hotel Peach Valley. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 10.6 grams of heroin, resulting in immediate arrests.

Officers are investigating the source of the narcotics and its intended recipients. Preliminary investigation has revealed a wide network and efforts are on to identify other persons involved in drug trafficking and distribution. This successful operation is a significant step in the district’s ongoing fight against drug abuse and trafficking. The police have reiterated their commitment to eradicate drug-related crimes and urged people to report suspicious activities. Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena lauded the efforts of the SIU team and said that such operations will continue to ensure a safe environment for the community. “The fight against drugs is a priority and we will leave no stone unturned to eliminate these networks,” he said. The arrest and seizure serve as a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking, underlining the district police’s resolve to make Sirmaur a drug-free zone.
