Himachal Pradesh: Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma has ordered the immediate removal of Asha Devi, the head of the Jarwa-Juneli Gram Panchayat in the Shillai block. This action was taken after she was found guilty of negligence in her official duties. She has also been disqualified from holding any Panchayat office or contesting elections for the next six years.
The DC has directed that the ₹12.99 lakh misused during her tenure be returned to the Panchayat fund account without delay. She has also directed Asha Devi to hand over any Panchayat cash, all government records, registers, store items, and other items in her possession to the Panchayat Secretary. To ensure proper Panchayat operations, the Pradhan’s official seal must also be returned immediately.
