Himachal Pradesh: Police arrested Saurav Kumar (31), a resident of Darjeeling, yesterday evening for the murder of a Nepali woman in Galog village, near Barog in Solan district. Police responded to reports that Ganga Devi was found dead in her rented house in Galog village. Police investigations revealed that she had been strangled and had injuries on her temple and other parts of her body, indicating a physical altercation.
Her son, Sanju Kumar, told police that he had dinner with his uncle Vijay and two sons, Saurav and Jeevan, the previous day. His mother fell asleep afterward, but was later found bleeding from the mouth. Sanju suspected Saurav killed her after a fight with her. Solan Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajkumar Chandel, said Saurav confessed to the woman’s murder. Police investigations revealed that he attempted to rape her, but she tried to defend herself, resulting in multiple injuries. Blood stains were seen on his clothes, which provided evidence of his involvement in the crime.
