Himachal: Land transfer paves way for police line in Dehra

Himachal Pradesh: Advancing the long-standing demand for a police line in the Dehra police district, one hectare (2.5 acres) of land in Dhaliara has been transferred to the police department. A district administration spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the Kangra Deputy Commissioner issued the land transfer order on September 25. Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Congress MLA from Dehra, who has been pursuing the issue for a long time, welcomed the move. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the state government, she said, “The land allocation is an important step towards strengthening the newly formed district. The dream of a police line in Dehra is now about to come true.”
The police department had originally requested approximately three hectares of land through the SDM of Dehra. Of this, one hectare has now been transferred. The MLA further stated that efforts will continue to secure the remaining land for a playground and administrative building. Previously, the state government had allocated 8 kanals of land for residential quarters for the Superintendent of Police (SP), Superintendent of Police (ASP), and other officers. Officials stated that tenders for the construction of the police lines would be issued soon to ensure timely implementation. Upon completion of the project, the police district would have a permanent operational center and improved facilities for officers and staff.
