Himachal Pradesh: Kangra district has been honored by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs for its excellent implementation of the Dharti Aba Tribal Development Campaign. The campaign aims to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary in tribal areas. The district was awarded a certificate of appreciation for its exemplary work. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa stated that over the past year, awareness camps were organized to develop 19 tribal villages in 16 panchayats across the district as model villages. Under the Utkarsh Abhiyan, the administration has prioritized 25 key schemes for focused implementation over the next five years, covering critical areas such as road and telecommunication connectivity, education, Anganwadi centers, health sub-centers, drinking water, drainage, and solid waste management in tribal-dominated panchayats.
In panchayats with approximately 50 percent tribal population, extensive awareness campaigns were conducted to inform residents about welfare programs and connect eligible beneficiaries with various schemes. Help desks were also set up to facilitate services such as Aadhaar enrollment, Jan Dhan accounts, community certificates, Ayushman cards, pension and nutrition schemes. Health camps, development exhibitions, and inter-departmental public awareness programs were organized with the active participation of self-help groups and Nehru Yuva Kendras. DC Bairwa praised the dedicated efforts of the Planning Department team and presented a Central Ministry Certificate of Appreciation to ADC Vinay Kumar, ADM Shilpi Bekta, District Planning Officer Alok Dhawan, and their staff.
