Himachal Pradesh: A major hurdle in the construction of the long-pending Jaralu Vegetable Market project in the Balh Assembly constituency of Mandi district has been cleared, as the Revenue Department has approved 21 bighas of land for its construction. Announcing this during a press conference here today, Sanjeev Guleria, Chairman of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, stated that the new vegetable market will feature modern facilities, including a cold storage facility and a petrol pump. Guleria emphasized that land availability had been a major hurdle for the past three years, which has now been resolved through the APMC’s continued efforts. The market is expected to significantly benefit farmers by reducing post-harvest losses and providing better storage options. He criticized the current BJP MLA from Balh, Inder Singh Gandhi, for misleading the public and alleged that the previous government laid the foundation stone for the project without proper land approval or budget allocation. The original DPR estimated a cost of ₹19 crore, which may now change due to the upgraded facilities. Guleria assured that there was no problem with the allocation of funds and that the matter would be taken up with the Chief Minister for early allocation. The project is part of a broader APMC initiative, which includes the construction of five cold storage facilities across Himachal Pradesh to support farmers.
