Himachal Pradesh: With an aim to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion, three lifts and two overbridges constructed at a cost of Rs 8.26 crore were inaugurated here today. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated the lift constructed in three phases from Vikasnagar to Brockhurst under the Smart City Project. On this occasion, Anirudh Singh said that various projects are being completed in the capital under the Smart City Project and this lift will prove to be very helpful in getting rid of the problem of traffic jam in the city. Vikramaditya Singh said that this set of three lifts will provide great convenience to the people to reach their destination in less time.
The ministers also heard the public problems. A flat fee of Rs 10 per person will be charged for the first phase of the lift and Rs 20 per person for the entire journey of the second and third phases. Only 20 passengers will be able to travel in this lift at a time. Under this dream project of Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Limited, the lift will be operated and maintained by the same vendor for five years. This lift and overbridge will benefit people from Vikasnagar to Brockhurst. Earlier, the journey on foot, which used to take 20-25 minutes, will be completed in just five minutes with this lift. Local MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation Surendra Chauhan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Kumar Atri, Director Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Limited Ajay Sharma and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
