Himachal: Heavy rain likely from tomorrow, alert issued

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall on August 27 and 28, as the state Meteorological Department has issued a yellow weather warning for various districts for these two days. According to the state Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall accompanied with thunder and lightning is likely in isolated areas of Shimla, Solan, Kangra and Mandi districts on August 27, while heavy rainfall accompanied with thunder and lightning is likely in isolated areas of Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur, Solan, Chamba and Kangra districts on August 31. The rains will continue across the state till August 31.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains occurred at many places in the state in the last 24 hours. Solan received 36.8 mm of rain, the highest in the state, followed by Dharamsala at 28.2 mm. Kasauli received 25.6 mm of rain, Una 16.2 mm, Mandi 11.8 mm, Shimla 11.1 mm, Manali 10 mm and Palampur 7.2 mm of rain. Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius, while Dharamsala and Manali recorded 29.9 degrees Celsius and 24.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Una recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur 32.3 degrees Celsius, Chamba 32.2 degrees Celsius, Kangra 33.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 34.4 degrees Celsius, Mandi 31.2 degrees Celsius, Reckong Peo 30.9 degrees Celsius, Solan 30.5 degrees Celsius, Nahan 29.2 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 24.6 degrees Celsius, Kufri 20.5 degrees Celsius and Narkanda 20.4 degrees Celsius. Bilaspur was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius, while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.
