Himachal Pradesh: The Gujjar community has condemned the recent incident of alleged abuse and assault against Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav during the famous Kullu Dussehra festival. The incident, which surfaced through videos and posts circulating on social media, has sparked outrage and dismay within and outside the community. Krishna Bhoj, vice-president of the Drang Block Panchayat Samiti and a representative of the Gujjar community, issued a statement strongly condemning the incident. Bhoj said, “What happened to Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav is extremely shameful and unacceptable. Such behavior not only hurts the sentiments of the Gujjar community but also tarnishes the image of the entire Himachal Pradesh, which is known for its peaceful culture and traditions.” The Gujjar community expressed deep concern over the use of abusive language and alleged mistreatment of Tehsildar Yadav, calling it “highly condemnable and intolerable.” Community members emphasized that any administrative differences should be resolved through legal and official channels, not through public humiliation or physical assault. Bhoj said, “Even if there was a mistake or misunderstanding on the part of the Tehsildar, there were proper constitutional and administrative procedures to deal with the matter. Violence or abusive behavior, especially towards a magistrate-level officer, is not justified under any circumstances.” Reiterating their respect for the local Dev Samaj, its customs and spiritual traditions, the Gujjar community clarified that they cannot support any form of abuse or violence against any individual or group. Bhoj said, “We fully respect the heritage and values of Devbhoomi Himachal, but actions that insult the dignity of any individual or community must be opposed.” He highlighted the historical and continued contributions of the Gujjar community at the local, national, and global levels. He said, “Such incidents not only hurt individuals but also affect the collective dignity of communities that have always stood for the progress of the nation.” As the incident gains attention, demands are growing for an impartial and thorough investigation into the matter to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
