Himachal: Government urged to remove pension discrepancies

Himachal Pradesh: Over 162,000 ex-servicemen (ESMs) in the state are demanding immediate redressal of issues related to the recently revised One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. The Joint Front of ESMs (JCOs and ORs) of Himachal Pradesh has requested the central government to form a judicial commission comprising three retired Supreme Court judges to address alleged anomalies in the latest revision of the scheme.
The OROP scheme, which was initially implemented on July 1, 2014, was first reviewed in 2019 and underwent a third revision effective from July 1. A new notification was issued on September 4. Front president Captain Jagdish Verma (retd) blamed the recent amendment for “worsening” the existing anomalies. Verma claimed that the updated pension for honorary commissioned officers (HCOs), junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and other ranks (ORs) shows that the disparity has increased.
