Himachal Pradesh: Newly elected MLA Kamlesh Thakur from Dehra Assembly Constituency has fulfilled some of the promises made during the recent by-election. The Cabinet has approved the opening of a 50-bed Critical Care Unit in the Civil Hospital in Dehra, which has been a long-pending demand of the region. The final approval of the post of Superintending Engineer of HPSEB, PWD and Jal Shakti as well as Block Medical Officer BMO in Dehra is being seen as the fulfillment of promises made during the elections.
Dehra Assembly Constituency which has been complaining of neglect is witnessing a lot of activities which people believe will compensate for the past shortcomings. Dehra is already a police district, with reorganization and upgradation of police stations and outposts. Everything that was neglected for decades is getting a new life. The Public Works Department, PWD and Jal Shakti JD are already engaged in preparing DPRs for internal roads and regular water supply. There are many villages that are demanding proper road connectivity. These villages are located on the banks of Pong lake and most of them house people who were hastily displaced in the early seventies.
In a short span of two months, projects pending for the last two decades are being implemented. Work on Nand Nala, which is the lifeline of some villages, has gained momentum. It is learnt that Kamlesh Thakur has personally met the Public Works Minister, who has assured him that the bridge will be inaugurated by next year. The electricity department is also upgrading old equipment, which was causing problems of low voltage or frequent tripping. Kiran Guleri, a social activist who has been a Zila Parishad and Block Samiti member from the area, said, “All these newly announced projects and opening of new offices as well as the construction of the CUHP campus will definitely bring smiles on the faces of all residents of Dehra town and surrounding villages once again.”
