Himachal Pradesh: ASP Praveen Dhiman stated that a team from the Cyber Police Station (North Division), Dharamshala, has arrested two cyber fraudsters from Rajasthan involved in separate cases of online financial fraud. He stated that the arrests were made under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and section 66D of the Information Technology Act. The first case dates back to September 17, 2024, when an investor from Nagrota Surian in Kangra district was defrauded of ₹71.62 lakh.
Based on the investigation, the Cyber Police team arrested Manoj Kumar Gurjar, a resident of Saloda Industrial Area, Gangapur, Rajasthan, from the Sawai Madhopur police station area. In another case registered on February 5, 2024, an investor from Palampur was defrauded of ₹22.25 lakh. The accused, Chandra Mohan Sharma, a resident of Vijay Nagar, Mirzapur, Ganganagar, Rajasthan, was arrested from the Bindaika police station area in Jaipur. Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, who led the operation, said that during the investigation, police recovered ₹2.08 lakh from them. He added that legal proceedings have been initiated.
