Himachal Pradesh: A childless couple in Kangra was duped of Rs 50,000 by a fraudster promising to help them adopt a child. When the fraudster did not return the amount paid in advance by the couple, they lodged a police complaint. Police sources said that this is not the first such incident in Kangra, earlier also similar complaints were received from Nagrota Bagwan area. Earlier also a couple looking to adopt a child was duped of Rs 1.5 lakh.
In a complaint lodged with the police, a Dharamshala resident has alleged that a person from Purana Kangra took money from them in the name of helping them adopt a child. When he neither helped in adopting a child nor returned the money, the couple complained to the Kangra ASP. ASP Veer Bahadur said that the Kangra DSP has been instructed to investigate the matter. He said that if the allegations made in the complaint are found to be true, an FIR will be registered and appropriate action will be taken against the accused.
