Himachal: Camp in Nahan to promote ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’

Himachal Pradesh: Child Development Project Office (CDPO) Nahan, under the aegis of Women and Child Development Department, Himachal Pradesh, organised a one-day training camp for ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. 50 participants attended the camp, which aimed to spread awareness about the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative. Nahan CDPO Ishaq Mohammad highlighted the primary objectives of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme, which include improving child sex ratio, promoting gender equality and empowering girls.

He also announced plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the scheme on January 22 with various activities in collaboration with the concerned departments as per the guidelines received. Kritika Chauhan, District Coordinator under District Programme Officer Sirmaur, discussed the goals of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative in detail. She also discussed other related programmes under Mission Vatsalya such as Mission Hub and One Stop Centre, which provide support and resources for women and children. The CDPO urged the ASHA and Anganwadi workers to play an active role in spreading awareness about this initiative and working towards its goals of equality and empowerment. The camp also included an informative session by Arti Devi, Block Coordinator of Poshan Abhiyaan.
