Himachal: Attack on former army officer condemned

Himachal Pradesh: The Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Association condemned the attack on a 75-year-old retired army officer here today. The association’s president Captain Jagdish Verma (retd) said it was unfortunate that a person who had devoted his life and soul to the service of the nation was attacked and intimidated. He said 75-year-old Captain Kalidas (retd) was attacked on November 6 and seriously injured. He said the victim had objected to the construction work being carried out on a disputed land between two families in his village Palbu in Sujanpur. He was allegedly attacked by the accused Bhagwan Dass of the same village. He said the accused attacked the victim with an iron rod, leaving him bleeding profusely. “The association has written to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police and appealed to take prompt action against the accused,” he said. Meanwhile, SP Bhagat Singh Thakur said the police have registered a case against the accused at Sujanpur police station. He said the matter is under investigation.
