Himachal Pradesh: Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur, while chairing a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) on Thursday, said the district administration should ensure prompt implementation of development works under centrally sponsored programs. He also reviewed the progress of various development projects and welfare schemes being implemented across the district. He stressed the need to maintain quality in all development works, including the construction of national highways, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana roads, and the Government Medical College. He directed the concerned departments to complete the Shimla-Mataur four-lane highway, the Hamirpur bypass, and the Hamirpur-Awahdevi-Mandi National Highway projects within the timeframes set by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). He also said the Pradhan Mantri Surya Griha Yojana should be widely publicized to encourage more households to install rooftop solar plants with government subsidies. Reviewing works under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund (MPLADS), Thakur directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to complete pending projects on a priority basis. He asked the officials to inform his office of any obstacles and provide feedback on any policy or procedural amendments required at the central level. Thakur emphasized the need to link self-help groups (SHGs) with loan schemes, digitize revenue records, and improve traffic management through better coordination between the licensing authority and the police department. He said that all departments should work in close coordination to ensure timely, transparent, and high-quality implementation of development projects and welfare initiatives for the benefit of the district’s residents. MLAs Indra Dutt Lakhanpal and Ashish Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh, Superintendent of Police Bhagat Singh Thakur, Zila Parishad Chairperson Babli Devi, and heads of all government departments were also present at the meeting.
