Himachal Pradesh: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Mandi district police have seized 17 grams of heroin (chitta) in two separate operations within the last 24 hours. Four persons have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and investigation is underway to trace the wider supply chain. According to SP Sakshi Verma, on September 8, 2025, during routine night patrolling in Aut police station area, police intercepted Navneet Garg, a resident of Punjab.
The search led to the recovery of 14 grams of heroin, following which a case was registered and the accused was arrested on the spot. In another operation, Hatli police raided a place in its jurisdiction and recovered 3 grams of heroin from three persons – Ranjeet Singh, Chandra Mohan alias Manu and Rohit alias Rohatu, all residents of Mandi. They have also been booked under the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway to ascertain their links in the drug network.
