Himachal: 150 cadets donated blood in Agricultural University camp

Himachal Pradesh: Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University Palampur recently organized a blood donation camp on the occasion of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day. NCC cadets of the host university Shri Sai University Palampur and Pandit Sant Ram Government College Baijnath donated blood in the camp. Vice Chancellor Naveen Kumar in his address called upon the youth to save human lives by donating blood. He said that the youth can play an important role in saving precious lives by donating blood once every three months. He praised the NCC Directorate for motivating the youth to donate blood through the camp. Student Welfare Officer Ashok Kumar inaugurated the camp.

University NCC Officer Ankur Sharma said that the camp was organized under the guidance of Colonel Manish Modi, Commanding Officer of 5th Himachal Pradesh Independent Corps National Cadet Corps Dharamshala. 150 cadets participated in the camp and 55 units of blood were collected from them. Subedar Santosh Singh (Himachal Pradesh Independent Corps, National Cadet Corps, Dharamshala), staff of University Health Center and officials of Health Department, Dharamshala were present on the occasion. In another programme, a Taekwondo session was organised for the volunteers of National Service Scheme. Taekwondo instructor Som Raj gave information to the students about the basic techniques – kick, punch, block and self-defence – and said that it is not only a sport but also an important means of self-defence and maintaining discipline in life. Student Welfare Officer and NSS in-charge Anjali Sood and Dr. Anjana Thakur were present in the programme.
