Himachal Pradesh: The Indian Army’s 133rd Eco Task Force, in collaboration with local communities and organizations, successfully concluded a 15-day Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in Shimla and surrounding areas, themed “Swachhata Hi Seva.” The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, heritage conservation, and community participation. As part of the campaign, clean-up drives were conducted at several historical and environmentally sensitive sites, including the President’s Retreat in Mashobra. The Retreat staff actively participated in maintaining the pristine ambiance of this heritage site. The Eco Task Force also taught students and residents lessons on cleanliness, environmental protection, and civic responsibility. Educational institutions played a key role in spreading awareness.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya in Theog organized lectures and cleanliness drives focused on personal and public hygiene. In collaboration with the Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition in Kufri, a joint campaign was conducted in Kufri Bazaar, Chini Bungalow, and the Kufri Lake area, with community participation a key highlight. Local residents supported the campaign in large numbers. Students from the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Sunni, and the Government Senior Secondary School, Thalot, also joined the initiative and showed deep enthusiasm for a clean and green environment. A spokesperson for the Eco Task Force said such campaigns help create long-term awareness and collective responsibility for cleanliness.
