High Court sent notice to Bhupesh Baghel, know the reason
Bilaspur. The troubles of former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel are not showing any signs of ending. While hearing the petition of BJP leader Vijay Baghel, the High Court has issued a notice to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and the single bench of the High Court has also issued a notice to the Election Commission and sought its reply.
Let us tell you that BJP leader Vijay Baghel has filed a petition in the High Court through his lawyer TK Jha, in which he has accused former CM Bhupesh Baghel of violating the code of conduct during the assembly elections. He has said in his petition that even after the expiry of the time limit for campaigning during the elections, Bhupesh Baghel was campaigning among the people of Patan, which is a violation of the code of conduct. Vijay Baghel has demanded from the High Court to end Bhupesh Baghel’s MLA from Patan. The entire case was heard in a single bench of Justice P.P.Sihu. The next hearing on the case will now be held on February 26.
It is noteworthy that in the 2023 assembly elections, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his nephew Vijay Baghel were face to face. In the election results on December 3, Congress’s Bhupesh Baghel defeated BJP’s Vijay Baghel by 19,723 votes. Here, on the application of lawyer Rakesh Jha present on behalf of the Election Commission, the court has issued an order to free the EVM machines and VVPAT machines sealed after the Patan elections. The court said that the Election Commission can use them in the Lok Sabha elections.
Let us tell you that, according to the rules, if a candidate files an election petition in the court objecting to the election results, then these machines used in that election are sealed till the final decision of the court in the case. Advocate Rakesh Jha, on behalf of the Election Commission, said in the court that they are needed in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, hence the court should give its approval for their use, which the court accepted.
