It is known that the state government has divided GHMC into three corporations. The government recently issued orders to form Greater Hyderabad, Greater Cyberabad and Greater Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations.
Meanwhile, the High Court has expressed its anger over the division of GHMC. A businessman named Guruva Reddy filed a petition alleging that the state government had divided GHMC in violation of those rules, even though the central government had imposed a freeze on the change of boundaries in the wake of the 2027 census.
The petitioner sought a stay on the division undertaken by the state government. In this context, the High Court has issued notices to the central and state governments to file a counter-affidavit within three weeks. The state government has already appointed new commissioners for the three corporations.
The state government has issued orders to continue RV Karnan as GHMC Commissioner, appoint Srijana as Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Vinay Krishna Reddy as Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
