Adilabad: Parts of erstwhile Adilabad district received heavy rains on Thursday night, affecting rural areas as well. Mancherial district recorded an average rainfall of 74.5 mm, while Vemanpalli and Kotapalli mandals recorded 152.3 mm and 136.6 mm rainfall respectively. Kannepalli, Jaipur, Bhimaram and Chennur mandals received more than 90 mm rainfall. Luxettipet, Hajipur, Dandepalli, Thandur, Mancherial, Bellampalli, Naspur and Mandamari mandals received rainfall between 40 mm and 80 mm. Kumram Bheem Asifabad district recorded an average rainfall of 66 mm. Kagaznagar mandal received the highest rainfall of 167 mm, followed by Penchikalpet mandal at 154 mm. Sirpur (T) and Koutala mandals received 107 mm and 97.6 mm rainfall respectively. Dahegaon and Chintalamanepalli mandals received more than 80 mm of rain. The average rainfall in Nirmal district was 31.4 mm. Kaddampedur mandal received 106 mm of rain, followed by Pembi mandal at 93 mm. The average rainfall in Adilabad district was 21.4 mm. Sirikonda mandal received the highest rainfall of 33 mm. Due to the rains, many villages in Kotapalli mandal of Mancherial district were cut off. Rainwater inundated low-lying areas of Kagaznagar town, rivers and streams overflowed in Chintalamanepalli, Penchikalpet, Dahegaon, Sirpur (T) and Bejur mandals, cutting off the interior villages from the mainstream of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
