Heavy rain alert in Madhya Pradesh; orange warning for five districts.
Bhopal. The monsoon has become active once again in Madhya Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Tuesday regarding heavy rainfall across large parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, several districts in eastern and central Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience intense rainfall, with very heavy rain expected in some locations. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for Tuesday due to the likelihood of very heavy rainfall in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Betul, and Rajgarh.
According to the weather department’s warning, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across various parts of the state in the near future. The impact of the rain is likely to be particularly significant in the districts of eastern Madhya Pradesh. The IMD had previously forecast the possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in eastern Madhya Pradesh, including Narsinghpur, Damoh, Mandla, Jabalpur, and surrounding districts.
Orange Alert for Five Districts
There is a risk of very heavy rainfall on Tuesday in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Betul, and Rajgarh; these districts have been placed under an Orange Alert. In light of the weather department’s warning, local administrations and the public need to remain vigilant. Persistent heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, rising water levels in small rivers and streams, and disruptions to traffic.
Weather conditions have also shifted in Tikamgarh and the districts surrounding the Bundelkhand region. Heavy rain is expected in areas including Damoh and Sagar. Meanwhile, rainfall activity is projected to remain particularly active across eastern Madhya Pradesh.
Heavy Rain in Other Districts Too
In addition to the five districts under the Orange Alert, heavy rainfall is also forecast for Guna, Agar Malwa, Shajapur, Sehore, Harda, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Jabalpur, Katni, Shahdol, Chhatarpur, Panna, Sidhi, and Singrauli.
These districts may experience intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and, in some areas, strong winds. According to the Meteorological Department, a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in several parts of the state until August 26.
Impact of the weather system over the Bay of Bengal
A weather system formed over the Bay of Bengal is considered the primary reason for this change in weather. Monsoon activity in Madhya Pradesh has intensified due to its influence. The Meteorological Department indicates that rainfall is likely to continue across various parts of the state in the coming days, with a particularly strong impact expected in Eastern Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
Meteorologists state that active monsoon conditions will lead to cloudy skies and intermittent rain across several districts. Some areas may experience intense rainfall over short durations. Consequently, special caution is advised in waterlogging-prone areas and near rivers and streams.
Crucial weather for farmers
This spell of rain is also significant for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. Monsoon rainfall could prove beneficial for Kharif crops in many parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall activity is likely to be higher in the eastern and northern parts of Madhya Pradesh, whereas rainfall may remain limited in parts of the western region. Relatively lower rainfall is forecast for certain areas of western Madhya Pradesh, including Indore, in the coming days.
