UP Election 2027: BJP’s mega plan ready, with a special focus on new voters

Lucknow. Political activities have intensified regarding the assembly elections to be held next year in Uttar Pradesh. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has already started accelerating election preparations. The main focus of the party is to reach out to new voters, especially first-time voters, and strengthen the organization at the booth level. According to sources, assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh can be held in April 2027. However, the Election Commission has not yet announced the official dates of the elections. BJP is preparing its strategy keeping in mind the possible election schedule.
BJP leadership believes that young voters can play an important role in the upcoming assembly elections. This is the reason why the party is paying special attention to the special summary revision (SSR) of the voter list. This process provides an opportunity to include the names of eligible new voters in the list and correct errors related to voter details. BJP is preparing to give information about the voter registration process to the eligible people through its workers.
Election preparations intensified under the supervision of CM Yogi
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also active in preparations for the assembly elections. According to the report, the top leadership is keeping an eye on the ongoing voter list revision process and organizational efforts of the party in the state. Issues related to voter registration, organization activism and elections are being discussed in high-level meetings with BJP leaders.
The party is trying to complete organizational preparations up to the booth level even before the formal announcement of the assembly elections. For this, emphasis is being laid on establishing better coordination between party officials and grassroots workers.
There is also news of BJP preparing to set up a call center to strengthen contact with workers and voters. This can help in conveying local level information to the organization and maintaining constant communication with the workers.
BJP’s special focus on new and young voters
During every assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, a large number of youth become eligible to vote for the first time. It is important for political parties to reach out to these voters. Keeping this class in mind, BJP is trying to increase its reach through digital mediums and organizational campaigns.
In the party’s strategy, importance is being given to social media, youth contact programs and dialogue at the local level. Issues like employment, education, competitive examinations, basic facilities and development may be included in the priorities of young voters.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state has also given information about a special campaign to add the names of the eligible people left out in the voter list and the youth who are voting for the first time. In this, there is a provision to determine eligibility by considering January 1, 2027 as the base date. However, the final decision to add names to the voter list will be taken by the election authorities as per the rules prescribed.
Strategy to strengthen every booth
This time BJP is also laying special emphasis on booth management. The party leadership believes that only big public meetings and campaigning are not enough for electoral success, but active organization at the polling station level is also necessary.
For this purpose, the activity of booth committees, divisional units and district organizations is being increased. The party is instructing its workers to maintain contact with the public at the local level and increase participation in the activities of the organization.
According to the report that came out in September, a plan is also being worked on to add new volunteers at every booth through various fronts of BJP. Through this the party wants to increase its reach to various social groups.
In the organizational meetings of BJP, emphasis has also been laid on identifying weak electoral areas, fixing responsibilities of workers and understanding public reaction on local issues.
Trying to learn a lesson from the results of Lok Sabha elections
In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were important for the BJP. The party had to suffer losses in many seats where its organization was earlier considered strong. In such a situation, BJP is trying to remove its weaknesses before the assembly elections.
There have been reports of increased organizational focus especially on Awadh and Kanpur-Bundelkhand regions. The party leadership is assessing the local equations and voters’ preferences in these areas.
At the same time, Samajwadi Party is also busy in preparations for the 2027 assembly elections. According to reports surfaced in August, SP had asked booth level agents to cooperate in the registration of at least five new eligible voters at each booth. It is clear from this that voter contact campaign is becoming an important part of the election strategy of all major political parties.
Challenge of forming government for the third consecutive time
BJP aims to form government for the third consecutive time in Uttar Pradesh. After winning the assembly elections in 2017 and 2022, the party is now trying to retain power in 2027 also.
For this, BJP is adopting the strategy of spreading the government’s achievements, development projects, law and order and various public welfare schemes to the public. On the other hand, the opposition is trying to corner the government on unemployment, inflation, social justice and other public problems.
