Paradip: In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor boy died reportedly after falling into a canal while his younger brother was born at hospital in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
One Bila Paramania of Lokapada village under Aul Tehsil of the district had reportedly admitted his wife at Atharbanki Hospital for delivery where she gave birth to a baby boy two days ago. The entire family was in cloud nine over the birth of the second boy child.
Their happiness over the birth of the new member of the family, however, did not last long as the first child, a 1.5-year-old boy named Sai, died reportedly after falling into the Taladanda Canal. Paramania had left Sai with his neighbour before going to the Atharbanki Hospital for his wife’s second delivery. But the boy accidentally fell into the canal while playing near it today and got drowned.
Some locals rescued Sai from the canal and immediately rushed him to the hospital for treatment. But unfortunately, doctor declared him brought dead.
A pall of gloom descended on the village over Sai’s unfortunate death at a time of family’s happiness over his younger brother’s birth. What saddened one and all in the locality is that Paramania had to receive body of his elder son at the same hospital where he was waiting for the discharge of his newborn, second, son.
Meanwhile, a team of cops from the Paradip Model Police Station reached the village after getting information about the death of the minor boy and started an investigation into the matter.
