Raigarh. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Divyang Patel, Kapu police today arrested an absconding NDPS accused from Saleta village. The accused, who had been on the run for quite some time, was apprehended and sent to judicial custody.
According to information, on July 15, 2025, Kapu police, acting on a tip-off from an informant, set up a blockade on the main road near the Godhikhurd mango orchard and intercepted a black Platina motorcycle without a number plate coming from Pathalgaon. During the investigation, the pillion rider jumped off the motorcycle and escaped, while one of the accused was apprehended on the spot. During interrogation, the arrested accused identified himself as Ishwar Chand Yadav, 53, a resident of Premnagar, Pathalgaon, Jashpur district. He admitted to coming to Kapu with his absconding partner, Nitesh Agarwal, to sell marijuana. 984 grams of marijuana was recovered from the accused in a brown bag, estimated to be worth approximately ₹15,000. A Platina motorcycle with engine number PFXUUML91444 and chassis number MD2A76AX2MWL10646, valued at approximately ₹25,000, was also seized. In this case, Crime No. 107/2025 was registered at Kapu Police Station under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act. Ishwar Chand Yadav was sent to judicial remand, and a search was underway for the absconding accused, Nitesh Agarwal.
Acting on information that the absconding accused had been seen in Saleta village, a police team led by Kapu Station House Officer, Sub-Inspector Igeshwar Yadav, took immediate action and detained the accused, Nitesh Agarwal. After being brought to the police station and questioned in a memorandum statement, the accused confessed to the crime. Following this, he was formally arrested and sent to judicial remand. This action by Kapu police has sent a clear message to the elements involved in drug trafficking in the area that strict action under the law will continue against those involved in illegal activities.
