Haryana: Students must return tablets within 5 days after final exams

Haryana: The Directorate of School Education (DSE) has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) in Haryana to take back tablets from students of Classes X and XII within five days of their final board exams. The department has also issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding the return process. The Class X and XII board exams are currently underway, and students of government schools who were given tablets under the government’s Advance Digital Haryana initiative under the Adaptive Module (e-Adhigam) will now have to return them immediately after their exams. The initiative, launched in 2022, aims to provide digital learning tools to students from Classes IX to XII, under which around 5 lakh tablets will be distributed across the state.

In an official communication to the DEOs, the DSE emphasised that failure to return the tablets within the stipulated time may result in the students’ exam results being withheld. “The tablets should be taken back within five days of the final exams, and SIM cards of Classes X and XII should be deactivated. However, students of Class XI will be able to retain their tablets,” the directive said. Further, the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) has been directed to withhold the results of students who do not return their tablets within the deadline. In cases where students are enrolled in government schools affiliated to CBSE, the department will request CBSE to withhold their results until the tablets are deposited in the respective schools.’ Confirming the directive, Devendra Sharma, district nodal officer for e-learning, said: “The directorate has ordered that the tablets should be returned within five days of the final board exams. Around 5 lakh tablets were distributed across Haryana, of which around 25,000 were allotted to students of Panipat.”
