Punjab: The Punjab government has appointed Finance Minister Harpal Cheema as the chairperson of the panel arrears committee. This committee will be responsible for reviewing, resolving, and correcting panel arrears in various departments and public institutions in the state. Panel arrears occur when the salaries and allowances of employees and officers are not updated timely as per their prescribed panel. In many cases, delays or errors in the payment of salaries to employees and officers lead to arrears. The committee aims to resolve these issues quickly and effectively. According to reports, the committee will include senior officials from the Finance Department and representatives from various departments.
Led by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, the committee will review panel arrears and identify cases requiring correction and recalculation. Harpal Cheema stated that the prompt resolution of panel arrears is a priority for the state government. He also stated that the committee’s objective is to ensure timely and correct payment of salaries and allowances to employees, thereby improving trust and the working environment among government employees.
