During her chat with Kimmel, the conversation turned to celebrity matchmaking, with Kimmel teasing Berry about Michael Jackson allegedly asking the babyface to go on a date with her. After a fun pause, she immediately turned the spotlight back on him, saying, “But I know Prince asked me out on a date!”
The late pop icon, who left us too early in 2016, had a special bond with Berry, even presenting her with an award in 2011. Berry recalled that adorable night at one of Prince’s concerts at the Key Club on Sunset Boulevard. As the music swelled the crowd, a messenger appeared, holding a piece of paper reminiscent of a childhood crush. The note jokingly read, “Do you like me? Yes or no.” Without hesitation, Berry marked her answer with a bold “Yes!” – after all, how could she resist in the presence of Prince?
But the surprises didn’t stop there. The messenger returned with a second note asking if she would go out with him. This time, Berry wrote no reply, leaving the question unanswered. However, she treasured the first note she received from Prince, a sweet memory of that unforgettable night.
