Dwarka: 30 packets of hashish worth Rs 16 crore were found abandoned on a beach in Gujarat’s Devbhoomi Dwarka district, police said on Sunday. Three sacks full of the banned substance were found on a beach near Varwala, an official said. “While patrolling the coast, local police and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel found three plastic sacks containing 30 packets near Varwala two nights ago,” Devbhoomi Dwarka Superintendent of Police Nitesh Pandey said.
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials were called in for verification and they found that the packets contained 32 kg of hashish, worth Rs 16 crore in the international market, he said. An FIR was registered at the Dwarka police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, he said. Prima facie, it appears that the banned material washed ashore from deep sea, the official said. He said the matter was being investigated.
