Lucknow: Former MLA and BSP leader Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali took membership of the party in the presence of Akhilesh Yadav at the SP headquarters on Wednesday. Guddu Jamali had defeated the SP candidate in Azamgarh in the last Lok Sabha elections on BSP ticket. On this occasion, he said, “I have not taken this decision out of any greed or greed. I have taken this decision after careful consideration. It is an important decision given the situation in the country today.” SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that Shah Alam had come before the assembly elections in 2021. But due to some reason we could not get along with them. Now when we are going to fight a big battle in 2024, we have called Jamali Saheb. He will stay here with the same respect as he was in the first party.
Let it be known that in the Lok Sabha by-election held in Azamgarh in the year 2022, Guddu Jamali had got 2.66 lakh votes and SP’s Dharmendra Yadav had lost this election by about eight thousand votes. Guddu Jamali is being brought into SP with the strategy of winning Azamgarh seat again. It is noteworthy that in November 2021, Guddu Jamali had met SP President Akhilesh Yadav after resigning from all BSP posts. After this, there was talk of him contesting elections from Mubarakpur on SP ticket. However, instead of declaring him a candidate, SP had given ticket to a local leader. After this, Guddu Jamali contested the assembly elections from Mubarakpur from AIMIM, but stood fourth.
