Governor’s Message: Appeal to Migrants to Contribute to Tamil Nadu’s Development

Tamil Nadu: Governor R.N. Ravi has stated that all citizens should actively contribute to the development and progress of the state. He made these remarks during an event organized to mark the Formation Days of the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The event was held on Friday at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai to celebrate the Formation Days (May 1st) of both states. On this occasion, the Governor also felicitated individuals of Maharashtrian and Gujarati origin currently residing in Tamil Nadu.

In his address, Governor Ravi noted that the objective of such events is to bring together people from diverse states on a common platform, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and foster mutual dialogue. He observed that while a person’s birthplace may be one place, their Karmabhoomi—their land of work and destiny—is often another.

The Governor further emphasized that Tamil Nadu is not merely a place of residence, but also a Karmabhoomi. Therefore, migrants from other states should play an active role in the state’s development and contribute to its ongoing progress.

At the commencement of the program, the Governor’s Secretary, R. Kirlosh Kumar, welcomed the guests and attendees. The event was attended by several prominent social and community representatives.

Notable attendees included Hitesh L. Doshi (President, Gujarat Samaj), Devraj Rao (Secretary, Maharashtra Sangh), Shailesh (Regional President, Maharashtra), and retired Police Chief Bhaskar Rao.

During the program, folk songs and dance performances showcasing the cultural heritage of both states were presented. Through their traditional performances, the artists brought the vibrant cultures of Maharashtra and Gujarat to life on stage.

Attendees appreciated such events for fostering cultural unity and mutual cooperation. The role and contributions of the migrant community were also highlighted and discussed during the program.

The Governor’s message is being viewed as a significant step toward enhancing coordination and cooperation among the various communities residing within the state.
