Raipur. Governor Ramen Deka today paid floral tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika ji, a multi-talented person who made a significant contribution to the cultural field of modern Assam, on his death anniversary at Raj Bhavan.
On this occasion, the Governor said that the contribution of Dr. Hazarika ji enriches the cultural heritage of not only Assam but the entire India. He was not only a singer or musician, but he was one of those few people who left their mark of talent in every field. He also directed many films. He was also the director of the Indian Music Academy. Mr. Hazarika was also a friend of former Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Mr. Hazarika was also an MLA of Assam Legislative Assembly. Mr. Deka said that the legacy of Mr. Hazarika, his songs and his work will always guide us.
On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Joint Secretary Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam and officers and employees of Raj Bhavan paid tribute to Mr. Hazarika by offering floral tributes to his portrait.
