Government initiative to build Anganwadi centres in Odisha

Odisha: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Parvati Parida has written a letter to all state MLAs, urging them to actively support the construction of Anganwadi centers in their constituencies. She specifically emphasized the need for timely completion and quality assurance.
In her letter, Minister Parvati Parida stated that Anganwadi centers play a vital role in the overall development of women and children in both rural and urban areas. These centers provide services such as nutrition, health care, and early education, so there should be no negligence in their construction and operation.
She requested all MLAs to regularly monitor the ongoing Anganwadi center construction work in their areas and ensure that all work is completed within the stipulated timeframe. She also urged them to pay special attention to the quality of construction to prevent future technical or structural issues.
The letter also noted that delays and quality-related complaints have been reported in several locations. In such a situation, the active role of MLAs can prove crucial in resolving these problems in a timely manner. The Minister stated that the participation of local public representatives will enhance transparency and expedite the implementation of schemes.
Parvati Parida also clarified that the development of Anganwadi centers is a priority for the state government, and coordination at all levels is essential. She stated that if MLAs monitor these projects in their respective areas, it will not only speed up construction but also ensure timely access to benefits for beneficiaries.
According to the Women and Child Development Department, strengthening Anganwadi centers aims to reduce malnutrition among children and improve early childhood education. Furthermore, these centers also provide health care for pregnant women and newborns.
The government believes that the efficient construction and operation of these centers is a crucial step towards rural development. With this in mind, MLAs have been directly appealed for their cooperation so that the benefits of the schemes reach the last person.
This letter is being seen as a significant initiative in political and administrative circles, expected to accelerate development work at the grassroots level. The state government’s focus now is on further strengthening the Anganwadi infrastructure and improving service quality.
