Google: Google will now start production of Pixel phones in India

New Delhi: After Apple, now Google is also preparing to manufacture its Pixel smartphone in India. The company plans to manufacture phones in India and export them to the US and Europe.

According to media reports, the giant tech company (Google) will start production in collaboration with Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Foxconn and Dixon Technologies. The company has started trial production in Tamil Nadu in collaboration with Foxconn. Foxconn manufactures products for Apple in India. However, no response has been given by Google on this report yet.

According to reports, Google may officially announce the start of production of Pixel phones in India in the first half. The base variant of Pixel can be manufactured by Dixon Technologies and the Pro variants by Foxconn.

Commercial production can be started in September. At the same time, the company can start exports when the production is stable. This move of the company is in line with the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) program. Under this, the government is promoting domestic manufacturing.

In the first two months of the current financial year, Apple has exported iPhones worth Rs 16,500 crore. In FY24, Apple has produced iPhones worth $14 billion. Apple is also continuously increasing the production of iPhones in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also said that one out of every seven iPhones in the world is now being made in India.

According to India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) data, the production of mobile phones in FY24 was Rs 4.10 lakh crore, which was Rs 18,900 crore in FY 2014-15. Due to the PLI scheme, it has increased by 2,000 percent.
